5 Must-Go-To Places in Nairobi

Stuck indoors, No event happening and if you are like me whom concerts are not the ideal cup of tea, nothing to do. Then this is for you. If you cannot go to a place because of the logistics you imagine are involved. Adjust your seat. this is for you.

1. Giraffe Center, Karen. Nairobi, Kenya

I emphasize on location because upon sharing pictures online someone asked whether its in Nairobi.
Fare: 150kshs (Return)
Entrance Fee: 250 kshs for a Kenyan Citizen
here you get to feed giraffes, kiss them even and better yet if you have a child (with or inside you) then i am sure this will excite you.

2. Safaricom7s Rugby Tournament

This is is not a place but an event for the adrenaline junkies.A great annual platform to meet people, watch 14 muscled men chase one another with an egg shaped ball under their arm (I love playing blonde). And the Kayumbet dance (Google it) is another out of this world experience oh dont forget the colour and  promp at this event, not place, is one to desire to be part of.

 3. KICC Helipad

You get to view the city from the top of the Kenyatta International conference center. it is quite exhilarating.
Entrance fees:150kshs (Kenyan Citizens)
Location: Nairobi Central Business District
Downside is you cannot stay up there past 1830 hours. makes you miss the most beautiful sunset you could get.

 

 

4. Karura Forest

You can use several routes to get there.
Assuming you use Kiambu road side,
Fare: 100 (Return)
Entrance Fee: 100kshs
The vast forest offers you a scenic valley, waterfall, lily lake you can hire bicycles and ride or jog. it is a nice place for picnic i must admit.

5. Museum of Kenya

 You"ll get to see Kenya's history under one roof. The beautiful museum boasts of a quiet place and it is ideal for family outings or just a friends. I liked the Peace Path in Particular, go ahead and find out what it is at the Museum.
Charges: 200Kshs for Kenyan citizens.

There you go. Now instead of Saturday being solely laundry day, you could use the afternoon for some indulgence in the city with your gang.
